Here's my versatile block - great to use for fussy cutting that beautiful fabric you can't bring yourself to cut up. I used a holiday fabric collection from Quilting Treasures that I just love - great variety and has one of my all time favorite fabric styles for the holiday - a plaid! This plaid even has gold in it. I cut the plaid on the bias to give it more interest.
I love the setting for this block.
ReplyDeleteNice block. Grats on being in the magazine.
ReplyDeleteGreat block - just perfect for a feature fabric! Thanks for sharing (love the plaid on the bias, too!).
ReplyDeleteyour Block is beautiful. So many possiblities. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
ReplyDeleteMany of the quilts I design for Quilting Treasures use their juvenile fabric lines, even the pre-prints for quiet books, so I'm always thinking up new block designs that showcase those adorable critters like Jemima Puddleduck or House Mouse.
love the poinsettia block!! Great for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI love using plaids in Christmas blocks! Yours is beautiful! looks like a nice present waiting for someone to unwrap it!

ReplyDeleteAnd a block could become a placemat or table topper pretty easily - great idea - and plenty of time til Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI just love versatile blocks and you can even use plaid, which is a very good idea. Very pretty and just in time for the holidays for a table runner. Thank you for particapating in the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Blog Tour.

ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty block - would make a good mug rug too!
ReplyDeleteOne of my quilt guilds gives each quilt show attendee a mug rug. What I've been using for them is orphan blocks or prototype quilts that I've been cutting up and facing - works for me!

WOW what a stunning block!! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYour block is gorgeous! It would make such a beautiful Christmas quilt.
ReplyDeleteGreat block! Love using snowballs that then seem to melt into the design, good choices of fabrics too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful block. I love fabrics like you've mentioned with the gold (or even silver) in them. I have a number of those I bought about 4 years ago and I think one may even be the ones you've used. I'll need to pull them out soon and check.
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteI've found the best way to fussy cut is with freezer paper, just cut it the size of your block piece, position it over the motif, iron on, then rotary cut around it - works beautifully. But do preshrink the freezer paper by ironing it fist - it does shrink a bit.
ReplyDeleteI really liked your block, and congrats on being in the magazine. Thanks for sharing your blog.
